I love hats!

I really do love hats, possibly because I'm permanently having a bad hair day, so I had to giggle when I saw this wonderful sentiment from Tiddly Inks. I've paired it with one of the new images from the Victorian Steampunk range, also at Tiddly Inks, and used papers from a new set called Flash of Inspiration which will be in the Crafty Chaos Designs shop sometime tomorrow.
These are the challenges I'd like to enter:

What's your favourite colour?

Over at StampInsanity this week, we want you to create something with your favouite colour. Easy peasy, right? And because Mr Linky disappeared last week, Beth has offered everyone who left their project url in the comments a free digi! Hop on over to the blog to pick your favourite and email Beth with your choice. And then get creating with your favourite colour to enter in this week's challenge as well :D Now I had a very hard time choosing between purple and teal for my favourite colour, but in the end I went for purple, what do you think?

I used Pierrette from the Les Cocquettes collection and a sentiment from the Sweet Henry set, both available at theStampInsanity Store, and the papers are from the Bittersweet set at Crafty Chaos Designs.

Papertake Weekly - sketch

Romance and bloodstains :P

This week's Macabre Monday challenge at the Haunted Design House blog is "Out, out damn spot!" and we want to see something that has drips or drops, splashes or splatters. Now it doesn't have to be blood, but hey, who can resist the red stuff? I made an ATC for this one, using a paper from the Jezebel's Remains set at Crafty Chaos Designs.
These are the challenges I'd like to enter:
Very Sketchy At Smeared & Smudged - July card sketch
Scrappekammeret - just one patterned paper
Sentimental Sundays - focus on the sentiment
Tuesday Throwdown - something metallic
Forever Night Mini Dark Art Mondays - skulltastic
Speedy the Cat's Friends' Challenge - 3 hearts
Make it Colourful - colour your own embellishments. I this piece I recoloured the gem hearts which were originally clear. Now since I work digitally, there is an automatic "Change Colour" button, but it works best on solid flat areas of colour and is a bit too "blocky" when used on something that has numerous spots of light and dark. I've found the best way to recolour embellishments is to open up the Brightness, Contrast, Hue and Saturation parameters and play with the numbers until you're happy with the result. I tend to work on Hue first, then Saturation, then Brightness and Contrast and then usually back to Hue and/or Saturation again for a few final changes.
Crafty Catz - no blue or pink
Fashionista Friday at If The Shoe Fits - ruby
Oh The Horror! - strips of paper and/or pumpkins
The Play Date Cafe - black and white with just a splash of one colour of your choice
Simon Says Stamp and Show - anything goes

The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe

Here's what I did with the Narnia films in mind. The gorgeous girl image is by Tiddly Inks, and the lion sketch is a free image by Rurouna, which she very kindly allows people to download and colour themselves. You can get it HERE or HERE. The quote is by Aslan / C.S. Lewis and I wanted to keep the look of the whole thing quite clean, so no patterned papers and only one embellishment.
here are the challenges I'd like to enter:
365 Cards - Day 144 Card for no particular reason

Hagrid in Batman Returns :P

Look what I did! See that sexy Catwoman up there? She started life as the equally sexy Lady Raven by Kenny K and I'm really quite chuffed with her transformation :D I LOVED Mrs Weyremaster's card doing the same thing HERE and decided to try my hand at doing the same thing with one of the KK images I already had. The Hagrid-esque image is by Bugaboo Stamps, and it's called The Gentle One.
These are the challenges I'd like to enter:

One of the changes we've made is that the challenge will now run fortnightly, giving you two weeks to create your masterpiece. This piece uses an image from Simply Betty Stamps, a sentiment from Graphicat Designs and papers from Crafty Chaos Designs.
These are the challenges I'd like to enter:
Make It Colourful - non-standard hair colours. I know this isn't up to the standards of some people's hair colouring, and I still can't get the "shine" effect but I'm really quite pleased with Betty's hair in this one. I think it may be the first time I've felt happy with using horizontal lines of colour on hair.
Graphicat Sketches - followed the July sketch

Happy birthday Lynx!

We interrupt the previously scheduled challenge to bring you Lynx's Haunted Birthday Bash!!
Actually, her birthday was yesterday, but we wanted to surprise her with a HDH birthday celebration for Macabre Monday.

Lynx (aka "Black Dragon") is a true inspiration to me. EVERYTHING she makes is stunning and she manages to fit it all in around a very busy family schedule with no tantrums or drama queen moments.
Lynx, you rock!
You can see her amazing art creations HERE and her wonderful jewellery and trinkets HERE.

She's a big fan of Mr Poe, so I thought I'd use his manically cheerful face to wish her a happy birthday - doesn't he just scream "fun and games"? No? Well, I'm sure he's giddy with excitement on the inside :P The corners are a digi from Smeared Ink, coloured gold and bevelled (think of it like heat embossing, it just gives a slight 3D aspect)
Here are the challenges I'd like to enter with this piece:

It's a film, any guesses?

I made a 4x4 today to represent a particular film. I hope it's pretty obvious which film, as all my original ideas for a film to represent would have ended up being unrecognisable to anyone but me :P
I used several images by Tiddly Inks (typewriter, door, ink splat background and spider web)

Here are the challenges I'd like to enter:
Tiddly Inks - reel me in (summer or scary movie)

And below is a re-edited trailer for the fim which I absolutely LOVE, done to make it look like a heartwarming family film, if you haven't seen it before you should really watch it (you need the sound on)

Nearly out of time!

Here's an ATC I created today. The image is Sugarplum Fairy by The Octopode Factory, and everything else was created by me in PSP.
These are the challenges I'd like to enter:
The Octopode Factory Friday Challenge - time. I'm afraid my mojo just refused to play with the theme this week, and I had to fool it by working on something that isn't overtly time-related and then sticking the word on right at the end. Hope it still counts!

Ooh La La Creations - tags
Allsorts - free and easy

We have a fun new Macabre Monday challenge for you over at the Haunted Design House blog this week; Loathsome Lotharios! We want to see all your bad boy creations featuring men who serially seduce women.

My second piece in the post was actually my first creation for this challenge, but then I decided that it wasn't macabre enough for a Macabre Monday challenge, so I changed it slightly. And then I realised that the changes made it unsafe for public viewing, so if you like wincing with your legs crossed, you can see my alterations HERE. I wouldn't recommend it for the faint of heart though :P The wonderful image is by DezinaWorld, try not to drool too much on your keyboards, ladies :P

It's Monday, which means it's time for a new Macabre Monday challenge over at the Haunted Design House, and this week we want to see your creations that use something long. Ribbon, string, guts and sinew, your call, just make or use something loooooong. I used a long card (3x6 inches), a long piece of ribbon and a long piece of chain chopped into lots of quite short pieces of chain :P The image is by Simply Betty Stamps, and the papers and sentiment are by Crafty Chaos Designs.

Red white and birthdays

The challenge this week over at Corrosive Challenges is to make something red and white. We have another two wonderful sponsors for you this month; Whimsie Doodles and Tiddly Inks, and today I've used an image and sentiment from Whimsie Doodles.
Here are the challenges I'd like to enter: (Please note, some of them have flower themes this week. I know this card doesn't use as many flowers as some, but, for me, this is a LOT. I struggle with adding flowers for some reason. So, as well as the large embellishment, I've given the image a little white flower brooch, and emboosed the red paper with daisies. And obviously the dress and hat in the image both have flowers.)
